As is common in cosmology, performing parameter inference can be costly due to expensive model evaluations and costly parameter estimation techniques. In this talk, I show a method to constrain the Epoch of Reionization’s history by first creating a dataset of low resolution simulations to model the 1D power spectrum of the Lyman-alpha forest. Two neural emulators are then trained with the results of these simulations, and we take advantage of their differentiability to accelerate parameter estimation by combining them with Hamiltonian Monte Carlo.
