One-Hour Talk

Clues on the formation of supermassive black holes may be found in the properties of their host galaxies and mass relations with cosmic time. Currently, observations up to z ~ 6 show a constancy between the mass of black holes and the total stellar mass of their hosts mass thus downplaying the connection with the bulge. This may point us to an elevated role for the larger dark matter halo. I will present data from JWST and ALMA in support of this scenario with the latter providing the first detection of dark matter halos at z > 6 using gas kinematics.
